Cole Habekost is dedicated to uncommon music — both new and old.​ He is an experienced interpreter of baroque and contemporary music and uses sound to inspire and enrich lives. He strives to ease the suffering of others through compassionate and altruistic music making.

Lauded for his tone and musicianship, he is currently based in New York City, pursuing a creative career in violin with a focus on service through music.

As a chamber musician, he has received training from renowned masters including members of the Emerson, Takács and Kronos quartets. Cole has been awarded first prize wins in chamber music competitions for his work in this domain.

Cole earned a BM (‘22) from Bowling Green State University where he won the school’s concerto competition and graduated Summa Cum Laude. He is pursuing a MM in Contemporary Performance at the Manhattan School of Music. Cole plays on a 2022 violin by award-winning luthier, Fabienne Gauchet.

Cole Habekost is a violinist and composer dedicated to uncommon music. As a sought-after interpreter of contemporary music, 2024 Cole gave the 2024 US premiere of “Agony” for solo violin and electronics by Guggenheim Fellow Ashkan Behzadi and has premiered dozens of works for solo violin or chamber ensemble since 2020. Cole’s personal mission is to use sound to inspire and enrich lives. To further this aim, he is founding a summer institute for young string players in 2025.
Upcoming engagements as a soloist include a performance of Lou Harrison’s violin concerto with the Manhattan School of Music Percussion Ensemble. Awards include first prize wins in the Rocky Ridge Chamber Music Comptetion and Douglas Wayland Chamber Music Competition, as well as first place in the Bowling Green State University concerto competition. As a chamber musician, he has received training from renowned members of the Emerson, Takács and Kronos quartets.
